Skopje, October 20, 2025 – Two of our own, Eva and Monika, recently took on the stunning yet formidable course of the Dalmacija Ultra Trail’s Sea DUT race. Overcoming 57 kilometers of challenging coastal terrain and a significant elevation gain, our crew members have returned with stories of perseverance, breathtaking landscapes, and the unbreakable spirit of the 091runCRW. With two thumbs up, we sat down and ask them a few questions about their incredible journey.
The Dalmacija Ultra Trail is a significant undertaking. What was the spark that made you both decide, “Yes, let’s take on the 57km Sea DUT race,” and how did being part of the 091runCRW family influence that decision?
Our initial plan was to run the Ethno DUT 30 km race, but right before picking up our bib numbers, we made a spontaneous decision to switch to the Sea DUT 56 km. Our friends Krume and Rudy encouraged us, convincing us that we could do it, and gave us that extra push of motivation and confidence. Their support and the strong team spirit within our running family were the key factors that made us say “yes” to taking on this bigger challenge.

The Sea DUT course is known for its beautiful but demanding terrain, with over 2,700 meters of vertical gain. Can you paint a picture for us of the race’s landscape? What were some of the most awe-inspiring views, and which sections of the trail tested your limits the most?
The name of the race says it all — the entire course runs along the sea, offering breathtaking views almost every step of the way. As you can see from the photos, every viewpoint was unique and spectacular in its own way. The most challenging section was definitely the stretch between the 9th and 21st kilometer, which was a tough uphill climb that really tested our endurance. But once we reached the top, the stunning panoramic view made every step of the climb completely worth it.

Every ultra-marathon has its highs and lows. Can you share a particularly tough moment you faced during the race and what you did to overcome it? On the flip side, what was a standout positive moment or a memory from the trail that will stick with you?
The toughest part of the race was definitely the terrain itself — the rocky surface made every step challenging, and we weren’t fully prepared for that kind of ground. It really tested our focus and endurance, but we pushed through together and made it to the finish. The beauty, however, came at a price. The descents were brutal — technical, rocky, and relentless. There was one section in particular, a steep and loose descent near the halfway point, where the sun hit hard, and the terrain demanded full focus. Our legs were shaking, hydration was critical, and that’s where the mental game really had to kick in. On the positive side, we can honestly say that every kilometer of those 57 was a memory of its own — from the stunning views to the incredible energy along the trail, it was an experience we’ll never forget.

Taking on a challenge like the Dalmacija Ultra Trail is as much mental journey as a physical one. What was the drive and spirit that fueled you during your long the race itself?
Running the Dalmacija Ultra Trail was never just about endurance — it was about mindset. When the body started to fade, it was the inner drive that kept us moving. What fueled us wasn’t competition or adrenaline, but a quiet promise we made to ourselves: to stay present, to stay strong, and to not back down when things got tough. Every steep climb and rocky descent reminded us that the real challenge wasn’t out there on the trail — it was within. Finishing the race became a symbol of resilience and self-trust, proof that the mind can carry you far beyond what the body alone believes possible.

Now that you’ve conquered the Dalmacija Ultra Trail, what’s next on the horizon for you both in terms of running goals? And what advice would you give to other members of our crew who might be inspired by your accomplishment to take on their own trail or ultra-running challenge?
Conquering the Dalmacija Ultra Trail didn’t feel like an ending – it felt like a beginning. Now that we know what we’re capable of, we’re already thinking about what’s next: maybe a longer ultra, a multi-day stage race, or a destination trail we’ve only dreamed about until now. The goal isn’t just to go further — it’s to keep evolving, to keep chasing that feeling of growth that only comes when you’re way outside your comfort zone. As for advice to the crew: Don’t wait until you feel “ready” — start with what you have. You don’t have to be the fastest, or have perfect gear, or know every trail. What matters most is the decision to show up and try. The trail will humble you, yes — but it will also teach you things about yourself you can’t learn anywhere else. And remember: you’re not doing it alone. Lean on the crew. Ask questions. Join the long runs. Share the fears and the small wins. We’re stronger together, and if we did it, so can you. Whether it’s 10k or 100 miles, if the fire is there, chase it. Your trail is waiting.
